Scouting Blogs

I’ve been reading the blogs of the three Scout Leaders linked on the right for a while now and very interesting they are too. I can’t remember how I found them initially, but they are worth a read. The only thing is, I can’t seem to find comparative blogs from UK Leaders. Now, the three Scouters in the States only talk about their Scouting on their blogs, where as I go on about anything that comes to mind, but still I can’t find anything comparable in this country.

I do find it interesting to see the US perspective, but I would like to see what my fellow Scouters in this country have to say!

  1. Great Post Nick… a lot of us here on the other side of the pond would like to hear what your folks have to say too.

It would be interesting to see how our Programs are alike and differ.
Like you said, we focus mainly on our programs, techniques, values, and skills. The Scouting program over here is based on the outdoors. Our program centers on camping and outdoor skills, so it is important that we continually discuss those issues.
I am sure that is the case in England too.
On a side note, I spent a week at the Baden Powell House when I was a youth (Scout).. it was one of the most memorable experiences of my Scouting life.
Keep up the nice Blog…I enjoy it.

    Happy Scouting!

  2. Thanks Jerry,

I think each country has basically the same aims and principles, but has their own ‘regional’ twists and therefore programmes reflect this.
Put at its most basic, Scouting is there to help young people develop to well rounded people who are able to the face challenges before them (be prepared?!) and be good citizens of their own country and the world! Oh, and to have a good time doing it!

I don’t think I’ve ever been to BP House! Must go on the to do list.
