He was the same age as I am now &#8211; 35. He has no known grave, but is commemorated by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cwgc.org\/find-war-dead\/casualty\/851569\/WOOD,%20WILLIAM%20EDGAR\" target=\"_blank\">Commonwealth War Graves Commission online<\/a> and in the cemetery in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cwgc.org\/search\/cemetery_details.aspx?cemetery=87600&amp;mode=1\" target=\"_blank\">Pozieres<\/a> , in St. Georges Church in Newcastle and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.livedepartureboards.co.uk\/ldb\/sumdep.aspx?T=SOT&amp;R=1&amp;A=0\" target=\"_blank\">Stoke Station<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He died the day before his son&#8217;s, my Grandpa&#8217;s, 5th birthday &#8211; not nice.<\/p>\n<p>So despite life&#8217;s annoyances, I guess things are not too bad&#8230;..<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today as I sit in my office, drinking my tea, waiting for a teacher to come in and tell me that their whiteboard isn&#8217;t working because they&#8217;ve put the USB plug in the network socket, I think how lucky I am.
