To be honest,&#160; I\u2019ve often thought that it was nothing more than a \u2018<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hallmark_Holiday\" target=\"_blank\">Hallmark Holiday\u2019<\/a>!<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">This is because it doesn&#8217;t seem to have any historical context, unlike Mother\u2019s Day, which is based on the Christian Church\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mothering_Sunday\" target=\"_blank\">Mothering Sunday<\/a> (at least in the UK).<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">However, although I\u2019m not a father myself (ok, <em>technically <\/em>I am, as Carol is 14 weeks pregnant, but I guess it doesn\u2019t count yet!), I now understand the need to have a day for our Dads.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">My Dad has been a constant guide in my life and I am grateful for this. When I need answers to questions, I always ask him (I hope I can live up to this).<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">In my role as Group Scout Leader, I kind of fill the father role of the Group.
