One of the things I had to do was to find recipes for all the stuff we sold. As I did this in 2000 \/ 2001 and the internet wasn\u2019t as useful or as fast, so I used a little Scouting database programme I\u2019d downloaded called \u2018Resource Information Management System\u2019 and it was put together in 1994 by someone called M. L. McLaren.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">I looked around some of my old backups, found it and tried to run it on my current Vista machine. And despite being that old and originally made to be run in <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/MS-DOS\" target=\"_blank\">DOS<\/a>, it still works!<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.nawbus.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/scoutinfo1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px\" title=\"scout info 1\" border=\"0\" alt=\"scout info 1\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.nawbus.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/scoutinfo1_thumb.jpg\" width=\"414\" height=\"233\" \/><\/a> <\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">By the looks of it, it was made by a Canadian, but has information from the UK, USA, Canada and even some from BP himself. I\u2019ve no idea where I got it from originally and I can\u2019t find any mention of it on the net today. Presumably I downloaded it from somewhere and I guess it was originally shared by zipping it up and <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Disc_spanning\" target=\"_blank\">spanning<\/a> it over 6\/7 floppy discs (it\u2019s a whopping 8Mb in size!).<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.nawbus.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/scoutinfo2.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px\" title=\"scout info 2\" border=\"0\" alt=\"scout info 2\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.nawbus.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/scoutinfo2_thumb.jpg\" width=\"418\" height=\"235\" \/><\/a> <\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">All you do is select the section or age range you want, select the area and then select the thing that grabs your interest. <\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.nawbus.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/scoutinfo3.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px\" title=\"scout info 3\" border=\"0\" alt=\"scout info 3\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.nawbus.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/scoutinfo3_thumb.jpg\" width=\"439\" height=\"255\" \/><\/a> <\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">You can even print out the article (although I haven\u2019t got it to work yet) or export to a text file \u2013 simple.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">M. L. McLaren obviously put a lot of time and effort into creating this resource (the games and recipe sections are huge), so it seems a shame not to use it! I will be going through it and picking out the bits I think are interesting and we maybe doing some interesting new recipes on camp soon.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">If anyone is interested in having a copy, drop me a line and I\u2019ll email it to you.
